Samsung Galaxy S26 Price Hiked by Rs 12,000 in India: New Price, Specifications and More

Samsung has increased the price of the Galaxy S26 in India for the first time since the flagship smartphone launched earlier this year. Both storage variants of the handset have received a Rs 12,000 price hike, pushing the starting price of the Galaxy S26 close to the Rs 1 lakh mark.

The revised prices will come into effect from September 20. The price increase comes shortly after Apple raised the price of its standard iPhone 17 in India following the launch of its newer iPhone 18 Pro series and iPhone Duo.

Samsung Galaxy S26 New Price in India

The Samsung Galaxy S26 was launched in India with a starting price of Rs 87,999 for the 12GB RAM + 256GB storage variant. Following the latest price revision, the same model will cost Rs 99,999.

The higher-end 12GB RAM + 512GB storage variant has also received a Rs 12,000 increase.

The new prices will be applicable from September 20.

There have also been reports suggesting that the Galaxy S26 Ultra could receive a price increase of up to Rs 20,000. However, Samsung has not provided further details on whether or when the Galaxy S26 Ultra's pricing will be revised.

Galaxy S26 Price Hike Comes After Apple's iPhone 17 Revision

The timing of Samsung's price increase is notable. Apple recently increased the India price of the iPhone 17 from Rs 82,900 to Rs 99,900, bringing Apple's standard flagship much closer to the Galaxy S26 in terms of pricing.

At launch, the Galaxy S26 was priced Rs 5,099 higher than the iPhone 17. Following Apple's revision and Samsung's latest hike, both smartphones now sit in almost the same price segment.

Samsung and Apple are among the major smartphone brands to have recently revised the pricing of their current flagship models, while several Chinese smartphone manufacturers have also implemented price increases in different markets.

Samsung Galaxy S26 Specifications

The Samsung Galaxy S26 features a 6.3-inch FHD+ Dynamic AMOLED 2X display with an adaptive 120Hz refresh rate. The panel offers up to 2,600 nits peak brightness.

In India, the smartphone is powered by the Exynos 2600 chipset, while select markets, including the US, receive a Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy variant.The Galaxy S26 comes with 12GB of RAM and up to 512GB of internal storage. It packs a 4,300mAh battery with support for 25W wired charging and wireless charging.

For photography, the phone features a triple rear camera setup comprising a 50MP primary camera, 12MP ultrawide camera and 10MP telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom.Other notable features include Android 16 with One UI, Gorilla Glass Victus 2, an Armor Aluminum frame and IP68 water and dust resistance.

Galaxy S26 India Price vs US Price

India is not the cheapest market for the Galaxy S26. At launch, the smartphone's US starting price was $899.99, which was roughly equivalent to Rs 82,000 at the time of conversion.

Prices in the UK and Europe were higher, while the UAE pricing was relatively closer to the Indian price.

The latest Indian price increase further widens the difference compared with the US price. However, direct currency conversion does not provide a complete comparison because regional pricing can include taxes, import duties, warranty coverage and other market-specific factors.

Should You Buy the Galaxy S26 Before September 20?

The price hike changes the pricing position of the Galaxy S26 considerably. At its original price of Rs 87,999, the 12GB + 256GB model was positioned below the revised Rs 99,900 starting price of the iPhone 17.

After Samsung's hike, the Galaxy S26 will start at Rs 99,999, putting it directly into competition with Apple's standard flagship.

Availability could also be a factor for buyers. The Galaxy S26 is currently unavailable on Amazon, while stock on Flipkart is limited at the time of writing.

For buyers who have already decided to purchase the Galaxy S26, finding the phone at its current price before September 20 could be worth considering, as the revised pricing will make the handset Rs 12,000 more expensive.
