Microsoft Surface Pro 12-inch and Surface Laptop 13-inch With Snapdragon X2 Plus Launched: Price, Specifications

Microsoft has expanded its Surface lineup with two new Windows devices powered by Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon X2 Plus processor. The new Surface Pro 12-inch and Surface Laptop 13-inch are designed to deliver improved performance, longer battery life and on-device AI capabilities while retaining the slim and lightweight designs associated with the Surface range.

The Surface Pro 12-inch is aimed at users who want the flexibility of a Windows tablet that can also function as a laptop, while the Surface Laptop 13-inch offers a more traditional clamshell design with a built-in keyboard and touchpad.

Both models are scheduled to go on sale from October 13 in select markets. Microsoft has not yet announced India-specific pricing or availability for the new Surface devices.

Microsoft Surface Pro 12-inch, Surface Laptop 13-inch: Price and Availability

The Microsoft Surface Pro 12-inch starts at $1,149.99, which is approximately Rs. 1.10 lakh. Meanwhile, the Surface Laptop 13-inch carries a starting price of $1,199, translating to roughly Rs. 1.15 lakh.

Both devices will be available from October 13 in select markets. Microsoft has not revealed India pricing or a launch date for either model at the time of writing.

Microsoft will also offer a 5G-enabled version of the Surface Pro 12-inch for business customers. The cellular connectivity option could be useful for professionals who frequently work away from Wi-Fi networks.

The Surface Pro 12-inch continues Microsoft's tablet-and-laptop hybrid approach. It features a detachable keyboard and supports the Surface Slim Pen, allowing users to switch between a traditional laptop setup and a tablet experience.

The new Surface Pro retains a fanless design, while its 12-inch PixelSense touchscreen is rated to reach 500 nits of brightness. Microsoft says the new display is 25 percent brighter than the previous generation, which should make the screen easier to view in brighter environments.The device is powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon X2 Plus, featuring a six-core CPU and a Hexagon NPU capable of delivering up to 80 TOPS for AI workloads.

According to Microsoft, the new processor delivers up to 17 percent faster Microsoft Office performance, 18 percent improved battery efficiency and up to 95 percent faster local AI processing compared with the previous generation.

Microsoft also claims that the Surface Pro can provide up to an additional hour of active web browsing, although real-world battery life will depend on factors such as applications, connectivity and usage.

Surface Pro Gets New Ink Canvas AI Tool

Microsoft is also introducing Ink Canvas with the new Surface Pro. The pen-focused application uses AI-assisted features to help users sketch, annotate, create images and summarise text directly on the canvas.

Ink Canvas will come pre-installed on the new Surface Pro 12-inch. Microsoft is also set to make the application available for other supported Windows devices through the Microsoft Store from October 13.The feature further highlights Microsoft's focus on combining Windows, digital pen input and local AI capabilities on its latest Surface hardware.

The Surface Laptop 13-inch takes a more conventional approach compared with the Surface Pro. It comes with a full-size backlit keyboard and precision touchpad, along with a 3:2 PixelSense touchscreen.

Like the Surface Pro, the Surface Laptop 13-inch is powered by the Snapdragon X2 Plus with an integrated Hexagon NPU capable of up to 80 TOPS. Microsoft is positioning the device around battery efficiency, local AI processing and portability.

The 13-inch touchscreen offers a resolution of 1920 x 1280 pixels, a refresh rate of up to 60Hz and brightness of up to 500 nits.Microsoft claims that the Surface Laptop can deliver up to 22.5 hours of local video playback or up to 18 hours of active web use on a single charge.

Alongside the two new Surface computers, Microsoft has introduced a new Surface Mouse. The accessory features haptic feedback, a customisable Copilot button and Bluetooth 6.0 connectivity.The Surface Mouse is priced at $79.99 and will be available from October 13 in Black and Platinum colour options.
