iPhone Duo Foldable Phone Launched: Price in India, Specs and Features

Apple has launched its first foldable smartphone, the iPhone Duo, globally at its ‘Surprise and Shine’ event on Wednesday. The new foldable iPhone is offered in two colour options and will go on sale in select markets later this month.

The iPhone Duo is powered by Apple's latest A20 Pro chipset, which is built using a 2nm manufacturing process. The same chipset also powers the newly launched iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max. The foldable smartphone features a dual rear camera setup with a 48-megapixel primary sensor, cameras on both the inner and outer displays, and support for MagSafe wireless charging.

iPhone Duo Price in India and Availability

The iPhone Duo price starts at $1,999 (roughly Rs. 1.90 lakh) for the base model with 256GB of storage. The foldable smartphone is available with up to 2TB of onboard storage.

Pre-orders for the iPhone Duo will begin on October 16, while the phone is scheduled to go on sale from October 23.

In India, the iPhone Duo starts at Rs. 2,99,900 for the 256GB storage variant. The 512GB model is priced at Rs. 3,24,900, while the 1TB and 2TB variants cost Rs. 3,74,900 and Rs. 4,49,900, respectively.

The iPhone Duo is available in Star White and Night Sky colour options.

iPhone Duo Specifications and Features

The iPhone Duo comes with a 7.6-inch Super Retina XDR foldable display on the inside. Apple says the inner screen is 80 percent larger than the 6.3-inch display on the iPhone 18 Pro.

The inner display features a custom Nano Texture finish designed to make the crease less noticeable while reducing reflections. The foldable panel uses a custom polymer material topped with high-strength glass.

On the outside, the phone features a 5.4-inch Super Retina XDR cover display. The outer screen and rear panel are protected by Ceramic Shield.The iPhone Duo ships with iOS 27, which has been customised for the foldable form factor. It supports features such as split view for multitasking, app pairing, quick app switching, partial-folded usage, and StandBy mode even when the phone isn't connected to a charger.

A20 Pro Chipset

The iPhone Duo is powered by Apple's new A20 Pro chipset, manufactured using a 2nm process. The chipset features a six-core CPU comprising two new Super Cores and four efficiency cores.Apple claims the new CPU delivers up to 20 percent faster performance, while its seven-core GPU offers up to 40 percent faster graphics performance and increased bandwidth.

The A20 Pro also features new Neural Accelerators with up to twice the FP8 performance and a dual Neural Engine setup with a total of 32 cores. Apple claims that the chipset provides a 50 percent increase in memory bandwidth compared with its predecessor.

According to Apple, the A20 Pro is up to 40 percent more powerful than the A19 Pro and twice as powerful as the A18 Pro.The foldable smartphone also features Apple's C2 modem, which is claimed to deliver up to 50 percent better performance than the C1x modem.

Cameras

For photography, the iPhone Duo features a dual rear camera setup. The system includes a 48-megapixel Fusion primary camera with support for 2x optical zoom and a 48-megapixel Fusion Ultra Wide camera.The phone can record videos at up to 4K resolution at 120fps.

For selfies and video calls, the iPhone Duo gets a Centre Stage camera on the front, while the inner foldable display houses an under-display FaceTime camera.

Battery and Charging

Apple claims that the iPhone Duo offers all-day battery life. The company says the phone can deliver up to 31 hours of video playback when using the inner display and up to 44 hours when using the outer display.With combined display usage, Apple claims up to 22 hours of battery life on a single charge.The iPhone Duo also supports MagSafe wireless charging. Apple says that just five minutes of charging can provide up to five hours of video playback.
