iQOO 16T Leak Hints at 200MP Camera, Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Chipset

The iQOO 16T could be the brand’s next performance-focused T-series smartphone, and early details about the upcoming handset have surfaced online. The phone is reportedly in the testing phase and is expected to retain a 200-megapixel primary rear camera, similar to the iQOO 15T.

According to tipster Smart Pikachu on Weibo, the iQOO 16T is being tested with a hybrid cooling system that combines liquid and air cooling. The handset is also said to feature a 200-megapixel primary camera but may not include a dedicated periscope telephoto lens.

iQOO 16T Camera Details

The tipster reportedly suggested that the 200-megapixel primary camera could use a 1/1.28-inch sensor. If accurate, this would make the camera hardware one of the key highlights of the upcoming smartphone.

For comparison, the iQOO 15T features a dual-camera setup on the rear, consisting of a 200-megapixel primary sensor and a 50-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera. It also has a 16-megapixel front camera for selfies and video calls.

The absence of a periscope telephoto camera on the iQOO 16T could indicate that iQOO is prioritising the primary sensor and overall performance rather than offering a more versatile zoom setup.

Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Chipset Tipped

An earlier leak claimed that the iQOO 16T is being tested with Qualcomm's upcoming Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 chipset, reportedly carrying the model number SM8950. However, iQOO is also rumoured to be considering MediaTek's Dimensity 9600 chipset for the device.

The smartphone could further feature an advanced cooling system with a built-in fan. Combined with liquid cooling, this setup could help the iQOO 16T maintain performance during extended gaming sessions and other demanding workloads.

iQOO 15T Specifications

The iQOO 15T was launched in May with a starting price of CNY 4,099 (approximately Rs. 58,000) for the 12GB RAM and 256GB storage variant.

The smartphone features a 6.82-inch LTPO AMOLED display with a 2K resolution and a 144Hz refresh rate. It is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 9500 Monster Edition chipset and comes with up to 16GB of LPDDR5x RAM and up to 1TB of UFS 4.1 storage.

The device runs OriginOS 6 based on Android 16 and packs an 8,000mAh battery with support for 100W wired fast charging.

For now, the iQOO 16T specifications remain based on leaks and rumours. More details about its display, battery, charging capabilities, camera configuration, and launch timeline are expected to emerge as development progresses.
