Honor Robot Phone Launched in China With 200MP Gimbal Camera and Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5
Honor has officially launched its much-anticipated Robot Phone in China, bringing a unique robotic gimbal camera system to a smartphone for the first time. The handset combines flagship hardware with a motorised camera module that can rotate and track subjects automatically, making it possible to record hands-free videos without relying on a tripod or external gimbal.
The Robot Phone was first teased by Honor last year and was showcased at MWC 2026 before making its commercial debut. The company has also partnered with professional camera and filmmaking brand ARRI to bring advanced imaging features to the device.
Honor Robot Phone Price in China
The Honor Robot Phone starts at CNY 9,999 (approximately Rs. 1.41 lakh) for the 12GB RAM and 512GB storage variant. The top-end model with 16GB RAM and 1TB storage is priced at CNY 12,999 (approximately Rs. 1.83 lakh).
The smartphone is offered in Moon Shadow Grey and Star Trail Silver colour options. Honor's official China announcement confirms these colour variants and the device's positioning as a new type of AI-powered smartphone.
Honor Robot Phone Features a 200MP Robotic Gimbal Camera
The biggest highlight of the Honor Robot Phone is its robotic camera module mounted on the top of the handset. The system uses a mechanical gimbal that can move and rotate to keep a subject in the frame while recording.
Honor's global product page describes the system as a compact 4DoF gimbal, while the imaging system incorporates three-axis mechanical stabilisation. The camera can work with AI-based subject tracking to automatically follow people or other subjects during video recording.
The main camera features a 200-megapixel 1/1.28-inch sensor with an f/1.6 aperture and 23mm-equivalent focal length. It is joined by a 200-megapixel periscope telephoto camera supporting 2.7x optical zoom and up to 200x digital zoom, along with a 50-megapixel ultra-wide camera offering a 122-degree field of view.
For selfies and video calls, the phone gets a 50-megapixel front camera with a 90-degree field of view. The rear camera can record up to 4K video at 120fps, while the front camera supports 4K recording at 60fps.
Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 Powers the Phone
Under the hood, the Honor Robot Phone is powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset paired with an Adreno 840 GPU. It comes with up to 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 1TB of internal storage, putting it firmly in the flagship smartphone category.
The handset runs MagicOS 10 and features a 6.31-inch OLED display with a 1,216x2,640-pixel resolution, 460ppi pixel density and a 120Hz adaptive refresh rate. Honor claims the panel can reach a peak HDR brightness of up to 6,800 nits.
7,060mAh Battery With 120W Charging
The Honor Robot Phone packs a large 7,060mAh battery. It supports 120W wired fast charging, 50W wireless charging and wireless reverse charging.
The phone measures 151.43 x 72.86 x 9.59mm and weighs around 248 grams, making it considerably more substantial than many conventional flagship smartphones.
Connectivity and Other Features
Connectivity options include 5G, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6.0, NFC, USB Type-C, GPS, NavIC, Galileo and GLONASS. The handset also includes an infrared remote control.
Other features include stereo speakers, four microphones with AI noise reduction and a 3D ultrasonic fingerprint sensor. The sensor package includes an accelerometer, gyroscope, compass, proximity sensor, Hall sensor and X-axis linear motor.
