Oppo ColorOS 17 Launched With Fluid Design, New AI Features and Rollout Schedule

 

Oppo has launched its latest ColorOS 17 user interface, bringing the Android 17 upgrade along with a redesigned “Fluid Design” language. The new software will be available across compatible smartphones, tablets, and other devices from Oppo, OnePlus, and Realme.

Alongside the launch, Oppo has announced the ColorOS 17 stable update rollout schedule in China. The Oppo Find X9 series, OnePlus 15, OnePlus 15T, and Realme GT 8 Pro are among the first devices scheduled to receive the update. The stable rollout will begin on October 8, followed by additional devices later in October and during November and December.

ColorOS 17 Features and Changes

The ColorOS 17 update brings Android 17 features to supported Oppo, OnePlus, and Realme devices. In addition to Google's Android 17 features, the new software introduces Oppo's Fluid Design interface, Polar Light Engine, Fusion Rendering Architecture, and next-generation Tidal Engine.

Oppo claims that the Polar Light Engine can improve device performance by reducing application startup time and runtime memory usage by around 25 percent. The technology is also said to reduce rendering workload by approximately 30 percent, potentially helping deliver smoother performance.

The next-generation Tidal Engine introduces personalised perception scheduling. According to Oppo, it can improve background app stability by around 55.6 percent, helping applications remain stable while running in the background.

New AI Features

ColorOS 17 also introduces several AI-powered features through OppoAI and the next-generation Xiaobu AI assistant. The update includes Xiaobu Space, Xiaobu Calls, Xiaobu and Me, and Xiaobu Memory, with the latter offering an AI-powered one-click memory flash feature.

For photography, ColorOS 17 adds the AI Retoucher feature, designed to provide AI-based photo editing capabilities.

Oppo has also redesigned its AI Notes application. The updated tool includes features such as One-Tap Sharing and Inspiration Cards, providing additional ways to organise and share notes.

Oppo claims that ColorOS 17 is designed to maintain smooth performance across its ecosystem even after six years of usage.

The software update is not limited to smartphones and tablets. Oppo is also bringing ColorOS 17-related improvements to wearables, including the new Oppo Watch S2. The smartwatch introduces a FatMax “SuperFat Burning” mode, while Oppo claims that its wearable software is designed to offer fluid performance as well.

The ColorOS 17 rollout will initially cover a limited number of flagship smartphones and tablets, with more compatible devices expected to receive the update in the following weeks.
