Motorola Signature 27 Announced: Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6, 200MP Camera

Motorola has announced its next ultra-premium smartphone, the Motorola Signature 27, at Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Summit. The second-generation Signature-series smartphone is among the first devices announced with Qualcomm’s newly introduced Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 Mobile Platform.

The Signature 27 also introduces a new naming convention for Motorola’s ultra-premium smartphones, using the final two digits of the coming year. The company has positioned the device as its most advanced smartphone yet, combining flagship performance with AI-powered features, an upgraded thermal system, advanced cameras, and premium materials.

Motorola has not yet revealed the phone’s pricing or detailed regional launch information. The company says the Signature 27 is expected to arrive in markets worldwide in 2026.

At the heart of the Motorola Signature 27 is Qualcomm’s new Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 mobile platform. The chipset is designed to deliver high-end performance across on-device AI processing, photography, gaming, and connectivity.

Motorola has paired the platform with a six-antenna system intended to improve connectivity and enable faster data transfers and cloud-based AI experiences.

The company has also focused on sustained performance with its new ArcticMesh cooling system. Motorola says the thermal architecture is 40 percent larger than the cooling system used in the previous generation.

The cooling setup combines a redesigned 3D vapor chamber with liquid metal interface material, copper mesh heat spreaders, and diamond-infused thermal gel. The system is designed to help manage heat during demanding workloads such as gaming, AI processing, and video recording.

Motorola is also promising seven years of operating system upgrades, extending the software lifespan of the flagship.

Google Gemini Brings AI-Powered Features

The Signature 27 will offer a range of AI capabilities through Google Gemini. Motorola says the smartphone is designed to use AI for everyday tasks as well as creative applications.

One of the highlighted features is Gemini Omni, which can use prompts, photos, and existing video footage to create edited video content. The device also integrates Google’s Lyria model for generating original music and custom soundtracks.

These capabilities are supported by the Snapdragon platform’s on-device AI processing, giving the Signature 27 a strong focus on generative and multimodal AI experiences.

Motorola Signature 27 Camera Specifications

Photography is another major focus of the Signature 27. The smartphone features a 50-megapixel Sony LYTIA 910 primary camera paired with a 200-megapixel periscope telephoto camera.

The high-resolution periscope camera is designed for capturing distant subjects, including architecture and landscapes, while providing greater flexibility for long-range photography.

For video recording, Motorola has introduced its Video Enhancement Engine, which analyses scenes before and during recording to apply real-time tone and colour adjustments.

The phone also combines Qualcomm's electronic image-stabilisation technology with hardware-based optical image stabilisation offering up to 3.5 degrees of compensation. The system is designed to produce smoother footage during handheld recording, walking, and other movement-heavy scenarios.

Audio Tuned by Bang & Olufsen

The Motorola Signature 27 is the company's first smartphone to feature Audio by Bang & Olufsen. The collaboration follows Motorola's recently announced multi-year partnership with the Danish audio company.

The partnership brings Bang & Olufsen's expertise in sound and design to Motorola's premium smartphone portfolio, with the Signature 27 serving as the first commercial device to carry the collaboration.

Premium Design and Pantone Finishes

Motorola has given the Signature 27 a premium construction featuring a contoured aluminium frame and a distinctive camera housing made using ceramic and brushed aluminium.

The smartphone will be offered in two Pantone-certified finishes.

PANTONE Coal Smoke: Features a textured Tactical Weave finish designed to provide additional grip and durability.
PANTONE Capulet Olive: Uses a brushed, textile-inspired treatment with a softer tactile appearance.

The design continues Motorola's focus on combining premium materials with a distinctive visual identity for the Signature series.
