Spider-Man 2 Sales Surge After Brand New Day Success, Crosses 18 Million Copies
Marvel's Spider-Man 2 is enjoying a major boost in popularity following the blockbuster success of Sony and Marvel Studios' Spider-Man: Brand New Day. The superhero game has reportedly sold 316,000 copies on PS5 and PC since the film hit theatres worldwide on July 31.
According to data from games market research firm Alinea Analytics, the sales surge has generated more than $11 million in revenue across PlayStation and Steam in less than two weeks. The game was originally released exclusively for PS5 in 2023 before arriving on PC in 2025.
The renewed interest in the game has also pushed its estimated lifetime sales beyond 18.2 million copies across PS5 and PC. Alinea estimates that the game has generated more than $1.2 billion in revenue across both platforms.
Spider-Man 2 Reaches 1 Million Daily Players
The impact of Brand New Day has extended beyond game sales. Marvel's Spider-Man 2 reportedly recorded 1 million daily active users over the weekend, marking the first time it has reached that level since its launch week in October 2023.
Alinea's data also indicates that 274,000 players accessed the game through PlayStation Plus. Sony added Spider-Man 2 to the PS Plus Game Catalogue earlier this year, making it available to Extra and Deluxe/Premium subscribers without an additional purchase.
Around 20 percent of the PS5 copies sold since the movie's release were physical editions, according to the firm's estimates.
New Spider-Man Suits Added to the Game
Sony and Insomniac Games have also capitalised on the renewed interest in Spider-Man. Ahead of Brand New Day, Insomniac released an update adding two new suits for Peter Parker, including the Fresh Start suit worn by Tom Holland's Spider-Man in the film.
In India, Marvel's Spider-Man 2 is currently available at a 50 percent discount on the PlayStation Store for Rs. 2,499. Marvel's Spider-Man Remastered is also available at a discounted price.
Meanwhile, Spider-Man: Brand New Day continues its strong box-office run. The film has reportedly crossed $1.67 billion globally, making it the second-fastest movie to reach the $1 billion milestone after Avengers: Endgame. In India, the film has also crossed Rs. 500 crore, becoming the biggest Hollywood release in the country's box-office history.
The success of Brand New Day appears to have given Marvel's Spider-Man 2 a fresh wave of momentum, bringing both new and returning players back to Insomniac's acclaimed superhero adventure.
