Redmi K90 Ultra launching soon: New gaming phone could come with 8000mAh battery and Snapdragon 8 Elite chip

 

Xiaomi is preparing to launch its new gaming-focused smartphone, the Redmi K90 Ultra, soon. The company has officially confirmed that the smartphone will be launched in China this month. While the launch date and full specifications are yet to be revealed, several leaks and reports have revealed key details about the phone's features and pricing.

This new smartphone will be an upgrade to the Redmi K80 Ultra that launched last year. It is believed that the Redmi K90 Ultra will feature a larger battery, a high-refresh rate display, and a flagship-level processor.

Redmi K90 Ultra launch date 
Xiaomi has confirmed the launch of the Redmi K90 Ultra. The company hasn't revealed an exact launch date yet, but pre-bookings for the phone have already begun in China on platforms like Xiaomi Mall, JD.com, and Tmall.

It's worth noting that the Redmi K80 Ultra was launched on June 26 last year. Therefore, it's expected that the Redmi K90 Ultra will also be officially launched in the last week of June.

Redmi K90 Ultra Price (Expected)
The company hasn't revealed the phone's price yet. However, Xiaomi President Lu Weibing recently hinted that the Redmi K90 Ultra will be positioned below the Redmi K90 Max and could be priced around CNY 3,000 (approximately ₹41,000).

In comparison, the base variant of Redmi K80 Ultra with 12GB RAM and 256GB storage was launched at a price of CNY 2,599 (around ₹31,000).

Redmi K90 Ultra Specifications (Expected)
According to leaks, the Redmi K90 Ultra is expected to feature a 6.89-inch LTPS OLED display with a 1.5K resolution. The phone is also expected to support a 165Hz refresh rate, making for a smooth gaming and scrolling experience.

Apart from this, ultrasonic in-display fingerprint sensor, dual stereo speakers and premium metal frame can also be provided in the smartphone.

Processor and Software
The Redmi K90 Ultra may be designed specifically with gaming users in mind. Reports suggest it could feature a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset. The phone is also expected to feature an active cooling system and a built-in cooling fan for improved thermal management. The device is also expected to receive an IP68 rating, providing dust and water resistance.

Talking about software, this smartphone can work on Android 16 based HyperOS 3.

Camera
The camera department isn't expected to see much change. Reports suggest the Redmi K90 Ultra could feature a dual rear camera setup, consisting of a 50MP primary camera and an 8MP ultra-wide camera. For selfies and video calling, the phone is expected to feature a 20MP front camera.

Battery and Charging
The Redmi K90 Ultra's biggest highlight could be its battery. Leaks suggest the phone could feature an 8,000mAh battery or larger.

It also supports 100W fast charging, as confirmed by a recent 3C certification listing. For comparison, the Redmi K80 Ultra featured a 7,410mAh battery.
