An ambulance arrived outside his home around 1 pm on Monday, after which the area was barricaded and security was increased. IANS officially confirmed Dharmendra's death at 1:10 pm. His body was then taken by ambulance to the Vile Parle crematorium, where tight security arrangements were in place.
Many prominent Bollywood stars attended the funeral. Amitabh Bachchan, Salman Khan, Sanjay Dutt, Aamir Khan, and Akshay Kumar, among others, attended to bid him farewell. Dharmendra's last rites were performed around 3 p.m. According to media reports, his eldest son, Sunny Deol, lit the funeral pyre.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi described Dharmendra's death as "the end of an era" and called his contributions to Indian cinema invaluable. In a career spanning more than six decades, Dharmendra won the hearts of millions not only through his acting but also through his simplicity, gentleness, and charismatic personality. His passing is an irreparable loss to the Hindi film industry.
Dharmendra would have celebrated his 90th birthday on December 8th this year. His deteriorating health before his birthday saddened his fans. During this time, news of Dharmendra's death began circulating in the media. On November 11th, Dharmendra's second wife, actress Hema Malini, expressed her displeasure over the rumors, rebuked the media, and clarified that Dharmendra was recovering after treatment.

Dharmendra was set to appear in Sriram Raghavan's upcoming film "21." The film also stars Amitabh Bachchan's grandson, Agastya Nanda, in a lead role. The film is scheduled to release in theaters on December 25th.
