Xiaomi is said to be working on the Xiaomi 17 Ultra, which is expected to sit at the top in the Xiaomi 17 lineup. The company has not shared any launch details yet, but recent leaks have revealed some early information about its camera setup. The handset may ship with a triple rear camera setup, marking a shift from the quad-camera design seen on the Xiaomi 15 Ultra.
According to a report by XiaomiTime, leaked photos of what is said to be the Xiaomi 17 Ultra’s camera module show no cutout for a fourth sensor, indicating that Xiaomi might adopt a triple-camera layout for the device. This suggests Xiaomi may be shifting its approach by working on better tuning for key focal lengths and sensor sizes instead of adding more lenses to the setup.
The report also notes that the Xiaomi 17 Ultra’s camera hardware was tested under the internal codename Nezha.
Xiaomi 17 Ultra Camera Sensors (Expected)
According to the leak, the Xiaomi 17 Ultra could come with a 50MP main camera using an OVX10500U sensor. It may be paired with a 200MP telephoto camera based on Samsung’s S5KHPE sensor, along with a 50MP ultrawide camera that might use either an OV50M or S5KJN5 sensor. For selfies, the device is rumoured to carry a 50MP OV50M front camera.
A previous leak also hinted that the phone might include a 200MP periscope telephoto camera with 4×4 RMSC support, enabling what is described as “multi-focal-length lossless zoom” and enhanced telephoto macro capabilities. The sensor is expected to offer better dynamic range, stronger magnification, and more stable focus performance based on early testing.
A previous leak had suggested that the Xiaomi 17 Ultra would feature a quad-camera system with three 50MP sensors and a 200MP telephoto lens. The latest information points in a different direction and supports the possibility of a triple-camera setup instead.
Xiaomi 17 Ultra Launch Timeline
The Xiaomi 17 Ultra is rumoured to launch sometime in 2026, joining other models in the Xiaomi 17 series. The lineup currently includes the Xiaomi 17, Xiaomi 17 Pro, and Xiaomi 17 Pro Max. More details are expected to surface as the phone moves closer to production.
