Huawei has used an all-metal body and second-generation Kunlun glass on the front of its new flagship smartphone, the Mate 80 Pro Max. The company claims this improves drop resistance by 20 times, increases bending resistance by 20%, and doubles scratch resistance. The phone comes with IP69 and IP68 ratings, making it both dust and water resistant.

Powerful Processor

For performance, the phone features the Kirin 9030 Pro chipset and Huawei's Ark Graphics Engine. The company claims it's 45% smoother and apps open 34% faster than the Mate 70 series. It also supports 3DGS rendering and hardware-accelerated ray tracing, capable of 20 million rays per second.

In terms of connectivity, the phone supports Wi-Fi 7 Plus, standard mobile networks, Tiantong satellite communication, and Beidou satellite messaging. Huawei is offering it under a "ground network + sky network + no network" concept, which also includes 700MHz emergency communication.

The phone uses Huawei's second-generation Maple Leaf Imaging System for the camera system. It features a 50MP, 1/1.28-inch RYYB sensor with a 10-stop variable aperture (f/1.4–f/4.0). There are also 40MP RYYB ultrawide, 50MP macro telephoto (4x optical zoom), and 50MP periscope (6.2x optical zoom, 12.4x optical quality zoom) cameras, along with support for a 3.3x teleconverter add-on.
